Grooming is when an older person tries to build a super close relationship with you just to take advantage of you later. They might act like your new best friend, buy you things, or make you feel like the most special person in the room. It could be someone you met online or someone you actually know in real life. Knowing the red flags can help you shut it down before it goes too far. One big warning sign is if they try to keep you away from your friends and family, or always want to hang out totally alone. It’s also a major red flag if they try to get you to talk about private, intimate things, show you inappropriate videos, or touch you in a way that makes you feel weird and then claim “it”s just a joke.” Just remember: if someone crosses a line, it is NEVER your fault.
