Abortion vs Emergency Contraception (Plan B) - What’s the Difference?

No, EC (sometimes called the morning after pill or Plan B) is not the same as abortion pills. In this video, we’re breaking down the difference between emergency contraception (EC) and professionally prescribed abortion medication. Basically, what’s sometimes called “the morning-after pill” is a form of emergency contraception taken soon after unprotected sex (within 3-5 days) to prevent pregnancy from starting. It works by stopping the ovaries from releasing an egg. Abortion pills, on the other hand, are used to end a pregnancy after it has already begun. These two are often confused — but they’re not the same. Please consult your doctor or a trusted adult if you are in need of medication and need to decide which path is right for you. [AA-064]
